Pi Kappa Phi Completes its 7th Deck Project
In spite of wet weather, Bradley University’s Pi Kappa Phi fraternity completed another accessible deck for PARC.
On Saturday Oct. 24th members of Pi Kappa Phi volunteered along with Mike and Bill Coons, John Fischer and John Waldmueller to build a deck at Lehman, one of PARC’s homes. Pi Kappa Phi, in partnership with Push America donated time and money to cover the costs and build the deck for individuals with developmental and physical disabilities.
This year we also had an unexpected donation of $700.00 to help cover the costs of the project by Elizabeth and John Collins of Glenview IL. PARC greatly appreciates these gifts of time and money. Tom, a resident at Lehman, was thrilled as he tried out the deck in his power wheelchair.
This project, like the other six decks the group has built for PARC, allows residents to enjoy the outdoors in the privacy of their backyards in a safe and accessible area. These decks expand the boundaries of each home giving residents another place to go and increase leisure options without leaving the comfort of their home.
